Desperation by Judith Hill
I love this song. When it debuted back in the winter after Sundance I looked all over the net trying to buy it.
On July 24, Hill’s album was released to the public via iTunes online and other digital retail stores. The ten songs from the album are featured in Spike Lee’s “Red Hook Summer” movie (released August 10).
“Red Hook Summer was an amazing experience that gave me the opportunity to write music that complements the mood of someone else’s artistic vision. Spike is a genius and I love how music played an integral part of the film that helps tell the story. I’m honored to be a part of such a cutting edge, thought provoking incredible piece of work,” exclaims Judith.
Every song on the CD is tight with a hint of old school soul and funk but still fresh for today.
Hill made a name for herself when she performed at Michael Jackson’s Memorial over three years ago. Since then everyone has waited to see what she could do on her own. I think her mentor would be proud of her freshman effort and as a fan of Spike Lee’s work I can’t wait to see how he uses her music in the film.
